Hodges to Lusardi goodness
Rode one of the sections for the archipelago that I was kind of worried about today and enjoyed it in a kind of masochistic way. It was 28 miles and 2928 ft of climbing. It was a fun ride and I don't really feel as bad as I would of doing a ride like that a year ago or even 6 months ago. Anyway it's just an update.

Oh Las Calaveras...
So my last ride was Hodges last Thursday, which in my opinion is a pretty easy ride which didn't really help me for today's ride. The ride we do at Calavera's is fun we get a bit of elevation and a ton of flowy single track. It's been a while since I have been there and this was the first time there on my 1x9 instead of a single speed and it was for as gay as it sounds WONDERFUL I still stopped at some climbs but I think that is a mental thing I have to get past from single speeding because all the spots I wanted or did stop at were my old SS resting spots. Anyway I don't have the info from today's route when I get it I will update it here. I plan on riding for the next 3 days with a solo ride on Wednesday at Lake Hodges should be fun next week is the archipelago which is still intimidating me mentally. So the stats for this ride are 12 miles and 2364 ft of climbing.

Fatboy needs to slim.
So I originally started this blog to kind of remind me to ride due to the fact I was pushing 290(read Fatty boombalatty) at one point in my life. Right now I sit at 246lbs (read just Fatty) I was down to 230ish before Thanksgiving of 2010 and then I got lazy about watching what I eat. Well it's time for me to get back on track ride more and lose about 25 lbs because that is what my Dr. claims is my recommended weight. I'm going to post ride reports and updates on the weight loss, not that anyone reads this thing its more for me, than you selfish bastards anyway!

Mission Trails... again..
Today I went to Mission trails with Pac-manolicious and did the ride we did the first time we went there which is a fun little round about. Our 2 man rides are always fun a laid back, there was shit talking, grab assing, and not to mention cuddle bugging... uh just kidding about the shit talking part. Well this is where the pictures should go but I only had a panorama and one of Pac-Man's legs and wheels on a switch back maybe I will edit and put them in later.. Anyway Spec-Ed iz out!!!

Hrmm Mission Trails...
Well a few weeks ago I rode mission trails with Pac to the Man and company and that was fun, so fun I want to do it regularly on Saturday mornings. I went there last weekend and brought the not so little one... aka M to the izzle or Micheal as he was deemed on his Birth certificate, that was a fun ride lots of complaints of legs hurting and things looking scary as well as threats of bodily harm for walking made(Just Kidding). We are going to do it again this weekend on take your kid biking day, hopefully it will be more fun for the both of us. I will try to bring a camera and take pictures of the fun or tears.

MMM.... Nobleriffic
And So It Begins.... or Began whichever....
Thought I would post a little thing about my last ride... It was at Noble Canyon which equals tons of fun... The first run was great I felt good through it and when I was done I wasn't disappointed in myself... Now the second run was different, I was just riding along enjoying the fresh mountain air, sniffing the flowers and dancing with the animals when I face planted well it would of been if my elbow didn't cushion the fall. Anyway after the crash I was a little sketchy at sections and made the ride less enjoyable... Overall it was fun to ride with Doug and Greg, I'm looking forward to riding in Moab and it was a nice prequel to those rides to come! Spec-Ed iz out!!!

A day at the plateau...
Once upon a mid-winter's afternoon 4 riders came upon a plateau. It was the first for some and a repeat adventure for others. Uh... Well... Okay today I went up to Murrieta to meet up with Pac-Man, Little Pac, and Ryu to ride at Santa Rosa plateau. It was my first time there and I enjoyed the trail or is it the trail enjoyed me... Either way fun times was had by all. The trail wasn't really technical but had quite a bit of singletrack. Spec-ED out! somewhere....

R is for Ride! S is for Sucky! or Spec-ED!
Well I guess a week isn't considered to be a hiatus but it sure felt like one... I rode with Pacalicious at Hodges yet again we took a different route to see how it was nowadays for us. It was some rocky singletrack with ups and downs along a creekside and low overhangs to duck under. We did it twice to attempt it without having to dismount for the overhangs heh. I have what feels like a bruise on my right shoulder from a misjudgment. Oh Well, Mountain biking and suffering seem to go hand in hand. Well I suffered with chest congestion and Pac-Man wasn't helping with the mud he was trying to get on me, while still trying to keep my already slow pace going. All in all it was a fun ride and I realized I need to get back on my 3 ride a week minimum. I hope the weather doesn't prevent that. Puxatony Phil say's spring is going to come early so it should happen right. Spec-ED out! of breath! damn cold!

Chronicles of Lake Hodges...
Got off in the late afternoon,
called Pac-Man just to see how he's doin',
Yo what up pac,
Yo Spec-ED what's happenin',
You thinking what I'm thinking,
Lake Hodges!!!!!!,
Man, it's happenin'!!!!
Ahem... Today we went to Hodges oh yet again... It was Ryu, Pac-Man, Kirk, and myself, it was a rare Friday ride with 4 people. We only get to ride on Friday's with Ryu once a month because he works nights most Fridays. Kirk rarely rides with us something about things to do, raids to run on World Of Warcraft, you know things of importance, but he made it out today and I guess that is what matters. It was a fun ride though slower than most but we were BS'ing a bit and by we I mean Pac-Man and I. Even though it was a slow ride I still felt pretty tired afterwards. Anyway just a update.... Seek your Nirvana... Or is it Ride often! whichever... Spec-ED out! fo shizzle!

Ride Sparringly! Ride Progressively! Ride Most of the Time! Ride When You Can! Ride a Bike! Ride Ride Ride! and no I didn't see other peoples taglines and change em up to suit me then call it my own...

Oh what fun... to ride a bike...
So today Pac-Man, Ryu, Larry and myself went to Daley Ranch for a quick ride around... and by quick ride around I mean torturefest. I was emailed some stat's for Daley and realized that it's climbs are just as tough on paper as it is in person. We start with a quick 150 foot climb then a down which we give it all back. Then we head up a long 1.3 mile climb with a gain of 320' which is ton's of fun. The stuff in between is single track and fireroad to a ranch house where the real fun begins with a 420 foot climb in about a mile hrmm as if that wasn't enough we hit single track downhill sections to another climb which I consider to be the toughest it's all bundled up into a half a mile and 320 feet of climbing over babyheads. I had to stop 2 times well technically three lost balance into a rut, but my boy Pac-man stopped once and Larry doesn't know the meaning of stop on a hill. Ryu didn't stop at all either... well he didn't stop walking... Anyways that was today's riding experience... Woot! Spec Ed out!

The Legacy
Today was a fun ride. It was slow and easy but interesting to watch the mountain biking prodigy Dylan ride steep inclines that I have seen experienced riders mess up on. The young riders are the future and I am looking forward to seeing where my son Mike or Doug's son Dylan end up skill wise in the future.

Hrmm complacency...
I think I felt the negative affect of complacency.. We went on the usual ride at lake hodges, it was Doug(Pac-Man), Sean (Ryu), and myself. We did the whole ride it was fun and pretty much uneventful Sean held to his name Ryu, which means Dragon, cause he is always dragon on a ride so we were waiting for him occasionally. At the end of the ride Pac and I pulled a log out on to the trail and I was messing around bunny hopping it, when I did a few lower speed hops I thought I was doing pretty well so the last one I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize I didn't have enough speed to clear the log and almost ate it. Well the moral of this story is that I'm a moron and Spec is short for Special for a reason. Anyway hope I can keep up the rants and not forget to update.

Mike and today!
I recently got my son a Hardrock in a extra small to get him into MT. Biking I took him out for a quick run to a waterfall at Los Penasquitos in San Diego... It was his second ride out and I could see a difference in his riding from the beginning to the end, some of the hesitations that he had in the beginning were gone by the time we finished. I'm looking forward to watching his bike handling skills grow and then begin to think up ways to slow him down when he is faster than me...
Ahh... To blog again....
What up!?! My insanity has brought me to start a blog, uh Well actually I haven't done anything web wise cause I am lazy so I thought blogging would be something easy that I can updat
e whenever... It will mostly cover riding my Adventures in Mountain Biking but may deviate to allow some insane rants about nothing... or something...
